Gourmet ideas

In Pau Pyrénées, there’s no shortage of fine restaurants, and we’ve got our favourites; the ones we’ve tried, savoured and approved of.

So, to take the hesitation out of your hands, we’ve concocted a homemade selection, full of flavour and good surprises. The kind of addresses we’re happy to share… because we know you’re in for a treat!

1. Jumo & Co Two brothers and a team

The collaboration of twin brothers with a passion for cooking and patisserie, accompanied by a whole young and dynamic team. It’s peppy, it’s gourmet, it’s beautiful and it’s good!

Jumo&Co is the perfect alchemy between inventive cuisine and sweet treats. Two passionate twin brothers, a peppy team, an elegant and friendly bistro, a stone’s throw from the château de Pau. Whether à la carte or on the daily menu, every dish is a surprise. On the pastry side, it’s refined, generous and always homemade.

BIB Gourmand 2024 to back it up: here, you simply enjoy yourself.

2. Flavours Breathtaking views, exquisite flavours

On the heights of Jurançon, Flaveurs invites you to a gourmet dinner in a charming estate, with a view over Pau.

Here, Patxi and her team celebrate the right taste: home-cooked, local, ethical and tasty. Vegetables are king here, but farmed, fished and home-made charcuterie products are just as pampered. A moment suspended between nature, elegance and shared pleasures.

3. Maynats Rising star

Installed opposite the station, at the foot of the funicular, this haven of peace offers a veritable showcase for Gautier Alvarez’s inventive cuisine.

Ultra sourced produce, chiselled plates, straightforward flavours and contrasting textures… A gastronomic table in tune with the times, hailed by the Michelin and the Gault & Millau.

4. The Jeu de Paume Local service

At the heart of the Hôtel Parc Beaumont, Le Jeu de Paume puts products from the South-West in the spotlight. Alexandre Paget, Maître Restaurateur, creates a refined and daring homemade cuisine, served facing the park.

A table recognised by the Michelin and the Collège Culinaire de France, ideal for special occasions as well as for the pleasure of a lunch on the terrace.

5. Restaurant Paute Dining out at the Hédas

Nested in the Hédas district, Restaurant Paute invites you to savour seasonal cuisine, frank and gourmet.

The atmosphere? Bistronomic, friendly, no-frills. Each plate gives pride of place to flavours, in a warm setting that makes you want to prolong the moment. Don’t wait to try it out!

Gourmet pass

To discover our local products and the people who make them, think of the Pass Gourmand! Tastings to suit all tastes, small or large, to delight all gourmets.

The wines

To accompany our cuisine, try the Jurançon (sweet or dry), but also Madiran or Pacherenc!
These South-Western wines produced just outside Pau will delight all palates…

Short circuit

Béarn’s terroir is rich and our restaurateurs are keen to cook locally and in season. Find these products, at the market halls in Pau or Billère, or on our markets.

Local recipes

Everyone knows the poule-au-pot and some people revisit it; but also try garbure, pastis bourrit or andouille béarnaise… typical dishes from Béarn!

6. Arraditz Heritage flavours

In Lescar, at the foot of the remparts, Arraditz is a confidential address where terroir and modernity meet.

Trained with the greats, Karine and Olivier welcome you and offer fine, local and seasonal cuisine, between creativity and elegance. A fine table recognised by the Michelin, Gault & Millau and the Collège Culinaire de France.

A gourmet getaway well worth the diversions.

7. Esberit Inventiveness on the plate

Nicolas Lormeau offers inventive and refined cuisine, in a gourmet spirit that comes close to gastronomy. The menus are varied and meticulous, showcasing high-quality, fresh, local produce.

A must-visit address to discover without delay.

8. The Interpreter Graphic and gourmet

Not far from Place Clemenceau in Pau, L’Interprète is shaking up your taste buds with its bold bistronomic cuisine.

Graphic plates, tasty sauces, local and organic produce: everything is designed to surprise. In a sober and chic decor, the address seduces as much by its substance as by its form.

Result? A well-deserved Bib Gourmand at the Michelin… and word-of-mouth that is not faltering.

9. Omnivore A new take on local produce

A stone’s throw from the centre of Pau, Omnivore boldly shakes up local produce. A bistronomic table where the chef revisits the flavours of Béarn with creativity and passion.

Inventive dishes, seasonal produce and local partnerships at the heart of the plate, all enhanced by a well-considered list of organic and natural wines. An address with character, and one that shows it.

10. Mr & Mrs M Gourmet elegance

Emily and Cyrille open the doors to an elegant 17th-century building, lovingly renovated.

A hushed ambience, fireplace, contemporary touches… a cosy cocoon that invites you to relax! Chef Cyrille serves up a creative bistronomic cuisine, spiced up with faraway influences.

Two spaces to savour: an intimate main dining room and a lounge, ideal for your private moments to share.
