The C.A.U.E. 64 immerses you in the heart of the architectural heritage of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques and introduces you to the distinctive features of traditional Basque and Béarn houses. From isolated farmhouses to village homes, each historic building is rooted in its local landscape and makes the most of the site’s advantages and limitations. In this way, it embodies a regional identity and reflects the transformations of rural society during that era. The C.A.U.E. 64 also invites you to explore the materials used in historic buildings and their restoration. Discover their origins, their properties, and the techniques used to work with them.
