L'Ombre Fondatrice (3h) Introduction to Perez's aesthetic: a dark canvas to bring out the subject. Dramatic Light (3h) Study of chiaroscuro. Warm tones are used to "sculpt" the face and hands. Touche Alla Prima (3h) Work on attitude and movement. Painting suggested details. Glazing and Finishing (3h) Harmonization. Use of glazes to deepen velvety blacks. Final highlights. Materials required: Oil colors (Prussian blue, primary yellow and primary red), white and burnt umber or natural umber, spatula and brushes of different sizes.
