The Jazz à Pau season kicks off on September 18 and 19 with an evening titled “Ladies, Trumpets & Songs”—a double concert featuring two outstanding female trumpeters: Airelle Besson & Lionel Suarez Duo form a partnership as rare as it is captivating. The trumpeter, a major figure on the European scene, has collaborated with artists as diverse as Rhoda Scott, the band Metronomy, and the Orchestre national de Lyon. For her part, Lionel Suarez has established herself as a sought-after collaborator, working alongside Claude Nougaro, Richard Bona, Charles Aznavour, and Francis Cabrel. Andrea Motis (Barcelona, 1995) is a singer, trumpeter, and saxophonist who made her debut at a very young age with the Sant Andreu Jazz Band and alongside Joan Chamorro. Discovered at age 16 by Quincy Jones for the maturity of her playing and her voice, she has since made a name for herself on the internati
