Description
It seems to start out as a perfectly serious recital, but very quickly the singer
breaks off, opens up, and confides in us. For this singer is, above all, a man of his
time—a man whose hilarious romantic journey we’ll follow as we dive into the
repertoire of French comedy songs, from the Roaring Twenties to the Left Bank cabarets
of the postwar era. His pianist, Christophe Manien, accompanies him and provides
his silent retorts.
This recital is a true music-hall spectacle that Gilles Bugeaud, with his deadpan humor, has crafted around songs composed by the greatest masters of the genre: Bourvil, Fernandel, the Frères Jacques, Boby Lapointe, and Jean Yanne, as well as a few rare gems waiting to be discovered!
