Description
André Minvielle, an artist originally from Pau, sings in French or Occitan and
practices what he calls “vocalchemistry”—a blend of scat, blues, and rap—which he
sometimes accompanies with a hurdy-gurdy, percussion, and sound effects, a megaphone, or
a plastic bottle.
He will share the stage for this concert with the Big Band of La Cité des Arts in Lescar, founded in 2022
and conducted by Guy Brunschwig. This ensemble follows in the purest tradition of
American orchestras of the 1930s. One need only mention the names of Fletcher
Henderson, Count Basie, or Duke Ellington to understand what kind of music
this is.
