A solar eclipse—the celestial phenomenon in which the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun—briefly plunges our world into unusual darkness. On August 12, 2026, between 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., Pau will have the chance to witness this rare event—which won’t occur again for another 55 years—and then extend the evening with stargazing. The Pau-Béarn-Pyrénées Urban Community and its partners invite you to immerse yourself in the fascinating world of the night through two days of activities on August 8 and 12. 3:00 p.m. – Auditorium Explore the secrets of the universe and discover all the mysteries of our closest celestial body: the Moon. Unravel the fascinating phenomenon of the August 12 eclipse through models and delve into the heart of the lunar cycles and their mysteries. A captivating journey into the world of astronomy, for young and old alike!
