Description

The etymology of the word “animal” is as unique as the graphic design by Olivier Bellot, a collaborator of Frédéric Davis, a student at the Frochot Academy, dancer, opera singer, and actor. "Animal" comes first and foremost from "animalis" (a living being in motion, derived from "anima," meaning breath or air...). Curiously, the etymology of “psyche” is more or less the same: breath, soul… Through his flat areas of contrasting colors, with more or less defined contours, Olivier Bellot attempts to capture the animal within us. His physical, psychological, mythological, and mystical exploration takes us down adventurous paths. Paths that involve realizing—and better yet, gently taming with humor—the bestial, brutal, and sometimes hallucinatory animal that hides behind our social masks. Can we truly vanquish the dragon that growls within us? Wouldn’t it be better to keep an eye on it...
