Description
The Salt of Life is, as Françoise Héritier puts it, a fantasy, a prose poem. It is a meditation.
The author, who would go on to publish anthropological works throughout her life, takes a step aside in this work.
This intimate text is a list, an enumeration of fleeting moments, moments of grace, experienced by the author and which she unravels over the course of the pages, through associations of ideas, in a long monologue.
These are sensations, accumulated since early childhood, that constitute her deepest personality—far more profoundly, she would say, than her profession or her political views.
We have titled this performance *Instant(s)* as a second part of *Habit*(s).
We continue to seek the greatest common denominator among individuals, through these little things that make up the essence of “beings” and that are our common heritage.
