Église Saint-Joseph

%C0 In Pau, in the Saint-Joseph neighborhood, this church—designated a historic monument—is recognizable by its distinctive silhouette. Nicknamed “Little Montmartre,” it is located in a residential area near downtown Pau. Inaugurated in 1935, the Saint-Joseph Church was designed by architect Jacques Laffillée, son-in-law of Marshal Joffre. Its Roman-Byzantine style combines ancient influences with modern materials, such as concrete and reinforced cement. Inside, the eye is drawn to the mosaic in the choir, created by the Mauméjean brothers, renowned figures in the decorative arts.
