Description

A solar eclipse—the celestial phenomenon in which the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun—briefly plunges our world into unusual darkness. On August 12, 2026, between 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., Pau will have the chance to witness this rare event—which won’t occur again for another 55 years—and then extend the evening with stargazing. The Pau-Béarn-Pyrénées Urban Community and its partners invite you to immerse yourself in the fascinating world of the night through two days of events on August 8 and 12. This is an opportunity to celebrate the science and poetry of the night, while highlighting the importance of preserving our still little-known nocturnal heritage, particularly in terms of biodiversity.
