Description
Biso, which means “We as One,” is a project by the young drummer Chacha
Angela. He has developed his own musical style by drawing on his Congolese roots and
drawing inspiration from contemporary genres, including jazz, pop, funk, gospel, and rock.
Chacha sings in Lingala, his native language, and also plays the balafon, a
traditional instrument made from wooden slats and calabash. He tells us about his
culture, brotherhood, and music (muziki), which he considers the legacy of
his ancestors.
Biso, which emphasizes the fusion of African and
Western music, has created a unique blend and a resolutely contemporary sound.
Drums and vocals by Chacha Angela, vocals by Gumiso Musendo, saxophone and bass
by Antoine Perrut, guitar by Niels Frechilla and Isma Suama, trombone by Renaud Perrot.
