Treat yourself without breaking the bank

1. Gourmet pass You won't be disappointed

Pick up your gourmet pass at the Tourist Office. You’ll be taken on a tour of Palais gastronomy. 23 artisans and traders will be on hand to offer you 42 specialities: nothing but local and good. We know, we’ve tasted it for you!

Whether you’re a sweet tooth or a savory one, you’ll discover that conviviality, sharing and gourmandise are not empty words for us! As for your wallet, depending on how hungry you are, it’ll cost you €8 or €15.

2. Casse-croûte caviste Tapas and fine wines

If you’re a wine-lover without a car, you’ve got to try out the famous Halles stallholders’ snack bar, in a caviste version! Our wine-lover from Pau will tell you all about the best “quilles” and will let you taste three wines from his selection, with the glass of your choice to accompany your tapas-style meal.

A simple, convivial formula combining the pleasure of wine tasting and a board (€15 with the Tourist Office).

Book your activity Ideally here we'll have a Youbook block

3. Ice cream at Georgio's

The iconic address for lovers of sorbets and other cones. The ice creams are so good and the original flavors make you want to come back again and again.

Good to know: be patient or avoid peak hours (4pm, for example). In summer, Georgio provides umbrellas to wait (and resist) under the Pau sun!

Choose from Place de la Libération or Square Aragon – you’re in for a treat!

4. Les Halles Happiness at a low price

Variety, quality and low prices! A baguette, a slice of ham and cheese, accompanied by a glass of wine, followed by a scoop of Pyrenean milk ice cream, for example. A slice of cheese, a piece of golden fruit, a few oysters or simply a coffee and a cookie to enjoy on the spot at the stall or on the terrace.

To make the most of it, take the time to sit down and enjoy: the atmosphere and infectious good humor that reign here will enhance your snack on the go! It’s a bit like our canteen too…

Local products

Béarn is a rich land. Here, we love and cultivate a taste for the good things in life: wine, duck, pork… You’ll find everything you need for an easy, short-distance treat.

Picnic

Looking for a picnic in the parks and gardens, or for a hike? A detour to Les Halles is all it takes. But be sure to respect the beauty of our natural spaces and leave nothing behind!

Wine tasting

Some wineries organize tastings and offer wines at very attractive prices. Don’t hesitate to come and see us at theTourist Office so that we can advise you.

Gourmet events

Take advantage of events in Pau to discover our gastronomy in a convivial atmosphere: Terrasse du Jurançon, Christmas market, Estiv’Hoc… Follow the program!

5. A Russian facing the Pyrenees The recipe for happiness

Excellent, light, inexpensive and easy to take away. Buy your pastries, in individual portions, at the pretty Artigarrède boutique. Find yourself a bench on the Boulevard des Pyrénées (for example). The ritual can begin:

  • Comfortably seated? Gently open your little white and blue box.
  • Admire the delicate square of golden puff pastry, finely dusted with powdered sugar.
  • Take a bite… Let the charm work!
  • Your taste buds will wander as you gaze out over the Pyrenees. A moment of pure happiness is priceless, especially when it’s (almost) free.

Good to know: on a hot day, the Russe should be eaten quickly!

Good taste and pleasure
