A day in Pau A change of scenery!

Would you like to take a trip to Pau on vacation? The destination offers you a thousand and one possibilities for a change of air, atmosphere and ambience, always with the beauty of a landscape like no other. You’ll soon discover that there’s no time for boredom here, and that a day in Pau is a busy time… A sort of appetizer for next time…

Cécile, a tireless explorer

Dynamic hiker, ready to reveal for your greatest pleasure, my favorites and hidden corners...

Incredible landscape

Once you’ve parked in the Place de Verdun parking lot (cheap and right in the heart of town), the first thing to do is grab a coffee on Boulevard des Pyrénées. It’s one of Palais’s must-visits… Watching the sun illuminate this unique landscape takes you far away from everyday life: you’re on vacation! The postcard comes to life right there in front of you, as you sip your coffee.

Stroll, stroll, stop, stop again in front of this exceptional landscape: at your feet, the Gave de Pau, then the Jurançon hills and the Pyrenean foothills. In front of you, the Pyrenean mountain range, culminating in the Pic d’Ossau.

“The Palois walk in fine weather. Departure from the Château d’Henri IV, arrival at the Parc Beaumont. An unforgettable kilometer with the old Hôtel Gassion, the Monument aux Morts, Place Royale, Hôtel de Ville, the funicular railway and Palais Beaumont. With the view of the Pyrenean peaks in the background.

Agenda

Many cultural and sporting events punctuate life in Pau. Take a look at the calendar to choose your date and why not enjoy a concert or a show…

The castle, of course!

It’s impossible to come to Pau without taking the time to visit the château. Inside, you’ll be amazed by the richness of its collections, furnishings and fine conservation. We recommend taking a guided tour to discover the rich history of our little kingdom!

Lunch at Les Halles

The beating heart of the city, this is where you’ll taste the soul of Pau and Béarn. This lively place will inevitably make your mouth water: it’s overflowing with temptations, from stalls with well-stocked windows to small local producers and shopkeepers with friendly accents…

The concept is both original and fun: everyone chooses what they like, and all that’s left to do is sit back and enjoy. And if the weather’s fine, you can enjoy your purchases on the panoramic terrace!

Good to know

If you’re coming on the last Friday of the month, you’re in luck! In the evening, it’s all night at Les Halles: themed evenings with DJs, concerts… So you’re staying?

The timeless beauty of Beaumont Park A bucolic break

Heir to the Belle Epoque heyday, this park overlooking the Pyrenees invites you to take a trip back in time.

Ideal for digestion, a little stroll and why not a siesta in the Parc Beaumont. With its open air, beautiful lawns in the shade of century-old trees and breathtaking views, it’s a green space where you can relax while the kids have fun!

Evergreen sequoias from California, Himalayan cedars, araucarias from Argentina and Chile, Judas trees, horse chestnuts from the Balkans – a plant journey awaits you!

End of day Under the sun

After a little shopping in Pau’s beautiful boutiques, before you leave, enjoy an aperitif on the Boulevard des Pyrénées to “come full circle” and enjoy the sunset over Pau’s most beautiful panorama! A glass of chilled Jurançon will convince you to come back…
