Description

The assassination of King Henry IV plunged France into consternation on May 14, 1610. The violence of the event gave rise to the legend of the “Good King.” Recent or belated accounts of this historic upheaval are scattered throughout the collections. The image of the king and his heroic deeds inspired artists from all over Europe. Much later, Romantic painting revisited this dramatic event, which still resonates today. A tour of the castle’s historic rooms viewed through the lens of a historical event. An exclusive tour led by the curator of the National Museum and Estate of the Château de Pau.
