Magic places Not far and so good

1. Jurançon Slopes and vineyards

The hillsides of Jurançon, with vineyards and the Pyrenees… Between the hills, a gently rolling landscape, hemmed in with green or red vines depending on the season. In the background, the omnipresent Pyrenees and the Pic du Midi d’Ossau, unchanging guardian of these treasures. Don’t miss a visit to Jurançon’s Chapelle de Rousse district. Its little church is full of charm!

2. Clos Mirabel Luxury, calm and beauty

In just a few minutes, you’ve left the vistas of the Boulevard des Pyrénées behind and set off for the first slopes. The road climbs and winds its way under a canopy of trees, adorned in every shade of green. At the top, Clos Mirabel, an 18th-century manor house, now a guest house and gîtes, acts as a lookout. Drawing in the light, it opens its terrace onto an unobstructed view of valleys and forests. Leaving Pau behind, the black-striped green velvet of the vines rolls down the hillside at your feet, while in the distance, playing hide-and-seek with the mist, the mountain gazes down on you.

3. Lescar Aviators' chapel

A moving place… The Wright brothers’ first flights took place here. The two Americans were seduced by the ideal climate and optimal take-off and landing conditions for their aircraft. They founded the first aviation school in Pau. This little chapel, built in 1927, pays tribute to the forgotten heroes of the conquest of the skies.

4. Franqueville Le Chemin Henri IV

An ancient transhumance route, probably Roman before being recognized as a royal road, this loop takes you to the Château de Franqueville. Whether on foot or by bike, for a stroll or in sporting mode, you won’t be able to escape the magic of the scenery. Whether it’s a footpath, a forest track or a small road, every moment of this trail reveals the truth about our natural environment, between plain, lake and mountain! In one go or in several, explore it to discover its hidden beauties.
