Fascinated by my city and its gentle way of life, and in love with the Pyrenees, I take advantage of my free time to explore Béarn, unearth good addresses and discover the country off the beaten track! Sharing my experiences is my greatest reward!

Saturday morning Y a d'la joie aux Halles

Arriving on Friday and/or arriving on Saturday morning, there’s nothing like a visit to Les Halles, the local market, to get you in the right mood.

The warm atmosphere, the conviviality of the producers, the good smells and the flavors of our terroir are a good start to your expedition to Béarn! It’s alive, it’s laughing and, above all, it’s Gascon! Your ears will ring with the Béarn accent, your eyes will feast on the colors, and your taste buds will tingle under the onslaught of beautiful, organic, tasty, local produce!

If you start wisely with a cup of coffee and a sweet treat, it’s not impossible that once you’ve taken a tour of the producers’ floor and the stalls, you won’t be able to resist a savory snack accompanied by a fresh, sweet Jurancon… all taken on the light-flooded roof terrace. Now you’re in the mood.

A symphony of happiness!

Saturday afternoon A little medieval history in Lescar

The tour continues extra muros, heading for the medieval town of Lescar. The Romanesque cathedral houses tombs of the kings of Navarre and a magnificent medieval mosaic. Finish your visit by walking down the ramparts.

Did you know?

The oldest golf course on the European continent is in Billère, just outside Pau, a superb green on the banks of the Gave. A beautiful stroll awaits you along the “coulée verte” and the tumultuous waters of the Gave to reach the park of the château’s national estate, as far as the Renaissance gardens at the foot of Henri IV’s birthplace.

Sunday morning Jurançon, King of wines, wine of Kings

After your Sunday morning lie-in, head for the hills. In the blink of an eye, just outside Pau, the vineyards appear. It’s all rolling hills… There are two ways to discover Jurançon: at the Cave des Producteurs in Gan, or at the independent producers along the Route des Vins.

Jurançon invites you to come and meet our country, our terroir, and the men and women who bring it to life, cultivate it and cherish it. Over a glass, you’ll discover the richness of this wine’s flavors, with their freshness, roundness and fruitiness. Let us tell you the story of an age-old beverage that has made a name for itself on the tables of France. Our winegrowers love to share their love of this Béarn yellow gold, which rises under the benevolent gaze of the majestic Pyrenees, a unique and omnipresent landscape in our Béarn region.

“As a teenager, I met a fiery, imperious prince, treacherous like all seducers: Jurançon.”
