A lecture by Gilles Clément
It's said that plants are immobile beings because they remain anchored to the ground by their root system. But this is not true. Vegetation also travels. Aided by man or by its own means, it is capable of colonizing spaces thousands of kilometers from its place of origin.
Brassage planétaire is a concept developed by G. Clément to show the interaction that takes place between different living beings, enabling the exchange of genetic and other information. G. Clément extends this term to include not only biological aspects, but also cultural ones, enabling him to address the cosmologies of the world's different ethnic groups. For him, the garden is an example of planetary crossbreeding.
