CATHERINE MILLET
Simone Émonet (Flammarion)
She was born in 1918 on the eve of a bad victory, and married in 1939, a few months before her husband went off to war and was held prisoner for five years. She was pretty, elegant and intelligent. She was well-liked, but, as they said, she had had her share of misfortunes. One splendid morning in the spring of 1982, she decided to put an end to this body of which she had no image. I'm her daughter, and I'm left with a lot of images, and I'll deal with them.
