With Théo Ceccaldi (violin and vocals), Hewan Gebrewold (vocals), Cyril Atef (drums), Laetitia Ndiaye (synths), Valentin Ceccaldi (bass)
In 2020, violinist Théo Ceccaldi flies to Ethiopia and meets singer Hewan Gebrewold in bustling Addis Ababa. Two totally unfamiliar worlds came together, giving birth to Kutu?s unique sound. This was followed by a 1st album and a hundred or so wild concerts, where improvisation, jazz and electro blend perfectly with Kutu?s cornerstone, the oral tradition of Ethiopia?s Azmari people.
"Madra", their latest album with its pop overtones, is in the same euphoric vein. It distills a solar groove, with incandescent energy capable of transforming every concert into a collective jubilation (very) close to trance.
