Classical ballet in the 20th century
Lecture by Laura Cappelle
Sociologist, dance researcher and journalist, Laura Cappelle teaches at the Sorbonne Nouvelle and is associated with CERLIS and the CCN?Ballet de l?Opéra national du Rhin. She edited the collective work Nouvelle Histoire de la danse en Occident (Seuil, 2020) and scripted its comic book adaptation, Une histoire dessinée de la danse (Seuil, 2024, illustrated by Thomas Gilbert).
The monograph based on his thesis, Créer des ballets au XXIe siècle, was published by CNRS Éditions in 2024. A critic for the Financial Times and the New York Times, it provides an informed look at the evolution of ballet.
