Landscape city

Pau, the city landscape, is incredibly photogenic. There are countless photos on Instagram and other social networks that put its extraordinary panorama into perspective… You won’t be able to resist taking THE photo! There’s nothing wrong with becoming a compulsive photographer, because beyond the Boulevard des Pyrénées, the charm will continue to work…

1. Boulevard des Pyrénées Classic and essential

  • Pont Oscar II: at the exit of Parc Beaumont, the palm-lined promenade for perspective.
  • Square Aragon: the Pic du Midi d’Ossau at sunrise or sunset for a magical photo!
Esplanade de Vigny: the fountain, a flowery setting for a colorful photo with the funicular railway and the Pyrenees mountain range.
  • Boulevard du Midi: the most westerly part of the boulevard, for a grandiose view of the Pyrenees. Here, you can stand back or stand up high for a wide shot.

2. Place Royale Under the eyes of Henri IV

In front of the Town Hall, this square lined with curtain-cut lime trees will give a graphic effect to your photos.

  • On the north side, the richly decorated façade of the town hall creates a backdrop worthy of a stage set.
  • On the south side, in the perspective of the lime trees, Henri IV on his pedestal stands out against the esplanade de Vigny, while the Pyrenees provide a fitting backdrop… A masterful composition!

3. Medieval quarter Place de la Déportation

This small square in the historic castle district nestles between the Parliament of Navarre, old buildings and the castle entrance. A very photogenic spot, it exudes a serene, timeless atmosphere, with its central fountain.
From here, you can point your lens south towards the Pyrenees, the Gave de Pau and the Pont du XIV Juillet below the first hills… Turn around: a change of scenery… The entrance to the château or the Parlement de Navarre invite you to take a break!

4. Château de Pau national estate

In front of the château’s access bridge, the main entrance to royal history. The courtyard of honour is very photogenic for lovers of history and fine stonework.

On the left, at the corner of the staircase, the view plunges down to the charming Renaissance garden at the foot of the building’s south façade. Continue towards Basse Plante and the state park. After the bridge, behind Maison Baylaucq, a path leads up to the left. A metal structure planted on the edge of the cliff serves as a frame. It’s the perfect angle from which to take THE photo of the château. It stands out perfectly, enthroned on its promontory.

Trespoey Beautiful English girls...

This neighborhood on the outskirts of the city center hides a number of beautiful residences and gardens that rival each other in beauty.

On Avenue San Carlos, take a break in front of the mansion of the same name, which looks like a small castle. A little further on, the Beït Rahat and Nitot villas offer a different setting.

The Kofu garden, with its azaleas in bloom, will appeal to color lovers, while the nearby Square Besson, with its hundred-year-old giant sequoia trees, is an ideal location for graphic nature shots.
