Passage Carnot Showcase for arts and crafts

Just a stone’s throw from Les Halles and Le Foirail, in the heart of Pau, this pretty, modern passageway is an atypical place! This space is a meeting place for arts and crafts. Its glazed gallery offers a beautiful artistic stroll through the heart of Pau. A must on your shopping trip for original ideas, it’s also a place where you can stroll around, take your time to look, admire and appreciate unique works, whose creators and craftsmen will tell you the story behind them.

A passage for the Arts

Nestled in the heart of the city, this glass-walled passageway welcomes art in all its forms! Between showrooms, craft stores and vintage brocantes, lovers of collectibles, unique gifts and artisanal know-how will find what they’re looking for here.

A pedestrianized space of light and greenery, occupied by some fifteen artisans, where stores and workshops flourish, linked to the immediate environment: the mediatheque, the Halles, the Henri IV school…

Art and light

The passage was designed in reference to 19th-century Parisian passages. However, this remarkable building remains totally contemporary in style, with steel, plaster tiles and coloured concrete adorning the gallery, while its glass roof floods the passage with natural light, letting in the sun and the blue of the Pau sky!

The Passage Carnot consists of a renovated building, classified as an outstanding building, and a new, modern glass gallery-style building, built on either side of a passageway. Designed by architect Alexandre Lacaze, the new complex is a reference to the steel and glass constructions of the early 20th century.

Meetings and conviviality

The Passage Carnot spaces are dedicated not only to arts and crafts, but also to antique dealers, second-hand goods dealers and second-hand booksellers, giving them visibility in a lively area.

Visibility at the heart of a busy, lively island, where visitors can enjoy a coffee or a bite to eat in the intimate cocoon of Café Aquiu. Much more than just a café, this convivial venue is also a stage for local talent and a local, responsible grocery store!

Car-free

In the heart of the city center, the passage is a pedestrian area. Leave your car in the parking lot!

When it rains

Ideal for a rainy day, when you can enjoy a leisurely stroll sheltered from the weather!

Crafts and arts and crafts

Designers and galleries, local artists and craftspeople will give you the keys to their know-how.
