Written over 30 years ago, this play was originally a tragedy inspired by Phaedra. It became a double tragedy when the original manuscript was forgotten in an airplane pocket. With the support of Patrick Dupond, Éric Léonard rewrote it for the stage, still in alexandrines, but as a comedy.
The work of the same name was published in 2020, and won Solico II?s
Federico II prize awarded by the Solunto Foundation.
The play transports us into a singular universe, at once atemporal and modern
and modern, telling the story of a bourgeois family which, like all other families, has its share of crookedness and secrecy. A very topical situation, a love conflict both internal and societal, characters we know well.
